The hottest games at E3 2005

All eyes in the video game industry were on Los Angeles this week for the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3, an annual trade show, where hundreds of games from dozens of companies were on display.

Following is a selection of some of the most talked-about titles at the event. Major game publications and groups will give out their best-of-show awards in the coming days.

  • "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" from Nintendo Co. Ltd. is often referred to as the most anticipated game of 2005. Exclusively for Nintendo's GameCube console, the game is the latest installment in one of the premier franchises in the industry.
  • "50 Cent: Bulletproof" from Vivendi Universal Games, for PS2, Xbox and PSP, puts rapper 50 Cent on the streets of New York, battling crime families and conspiracies. The rapper lent his voice, likeness and music to the game, which will also include voice work from rap stars Eminem and Dr. Dre.
  • "Perfect Dark Zero" from Microsoft Game Studios for the Xbox 360 is the latest entry in the acclaimed series from Microsoft's British studio Rare. In development for years and originally meant for other consoles, it is long awaited by fans of Rare's work with "shooter" games.
