The Ziff Davis Media Game Group
announced today that beginning with the March 2004 issue, Xbox Nation (XBN),
the high-end gaming magazine exclusively serving the Microsoft Xbox gamer
community, is increasing its publishing frequency from bi-monthly to monthly.
Launched back in December 2001 as a quarterly magazine, XBN has increased
in frequency every year, moving to bi-monthly in November 2002 and now to
monthly. XBN is aimed at the sophisticated and increasingly core Xbox gamer.
XBN provides information on Xbox games and accessories, game reviews and
previews, along with targeted tips and strategies, and also offering news and
features covering Xbox culture.
"This move allows us to properly cover this progressively growing market
of gamers barely tapped by the publishing community," said Dale Strang, Senior
Vice President, Ziff Davis Media Game Group. "Becoming a monthly magazine is
the next logical step in our plans to growing XBN into the leading publication
covering the Xbox phenomenon. This will give our readers and advertisers a
familiar, yet new and vital outlet to the independent voice of Xbox gaming."
To help spearhead the operation, creative director Simon Cox, will return
as the editor-in-chief of XBN. Current editor-in-chief, Evan Shamoon, will
become the Editor of XBN. Cox and Shamoon will be working together again to
make XBN a most rewarding gaming experience, both sleek and sophisticated
visually as well as being packed with the best editorial content.
"I am extremely excited to be back to guide XBN into this new avenue. It's
gratifying to have the opportunity to launch this magazine and now to help
achieve its full potential as a monthly magazine," said Cox. "As the Xbox
audience grows in size and popularity, it is important that we grow along with
them, giving them the latest information every step of the way."
In addition, the Ziff Davis Media Game Group also announced today that
current Editor-in-Chief Tom Byron of GameNOW, will become the Editor-in-Chief
of GMR, the Game Group's publication that serves as a buying guide for readers
who want to find out about the latest games available on the market.
