Pokemon Ruby

from Nintendo

The Pokemon epic makes a great leap forward with Pokemon Ruby. New Pokemon, great graphics and support for two-on-two Pokemon battles are just some of the exciting innovations in Pokemon Ruby, one of the first Pokemon games exclusively available for the Game Boy Advance. You'll start your adventure by receiving one of 3 basic Pokemon from the professor. Journey through Hoenn gaining knowledge, training your Pokemon and earning badges, with the goal of becoming a Pokemon Master through collecting, battling & trading.

Pokemon Ruby offers more features than ever before: more sophisticated graphics on Game Boy Advance, more varied game play, and more than 100 new characters! The game includes two-on-two battle capabilities and a variety of battle modes. One player can take on two Pokemon simultaneously, and using a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable, two players can control two Pokemon each, or four players can play one each, providing deeper and more strategic game play.

Double Your Fun

The biggest gameplay breakthrough announced so far is support for trainers to take two Pokemon into battle instead of just one. Since each Pokemon offers a unique combination of strengths and weaknesses, doubling the number that can battle at once adds immeasurably to the games' richness and depth.

Looking Very Nice, Thank You

The Pokemon epic makes a great graphical leap forward with Ruby. It's as if the developers have been biding their time, waiting for a system with the processing muscle of the Game Boy Advance. Click on the screen shots to feast your peepers on some samples of what's in store.

In the battle scenes, a rich palette and subtle shading gives both the trainer and the Pokemon themselves a breathtaking degree of realism. The same meticulous attention to detail can be seen in the world scenes. Artistic touches like ripples on a pond and intricate ironwork in a modern city bring the world of Pokemon to life like never before. You can almost see the individual tiles on the roofs!

New Pokemon

Nintendo also announces the Japanese names and stats of three of the games' new Pokemon: Pelipper, a "Water Bird Pokemon" that looks much like a pelican; Samehader, a shark-like "Ferocious Pokemon," and the grumpy-looking Kinococo, a "Mushroom Pokemon."
