Developed by Nihon Falcom Corporation, "YS VI – The Arc of Napishtim" is the sixth game in the multi-million selling series and is Japan's most popular role-playing game (RPG) for PC CD-ROM. The game was originally released in September 2003 for the domestic Japan market. Under the new agreement Konami will expand and customize "YS VI" for console systems. The new title is slated for worldwide release in winter 2004.
The "YS" series which first appeared as a PC game in 1987 is an RPG that depicts the adventures of its hero, Adol Christian. The game's grand view of the world, exciting plot twists and distinct characters set it apart among other RPGs. In "YS VI – The Arc of Napishtim", players embark on a rich adventure set on a deserted island. Featuring beautifully rendered 3D graphics, this action RPG delivers a uniquely deep and compelling gameplay experience.
In bringing the PC game to the home videogame consoles, Konami will use its advanced technology to further enhance the in-game graphics, improve the controls and expand the scenario by adding new maps, enemies and missions. With the many additions planned for the game, "YS VI" is poised to be the most interesting, most visually appealing and most and expansive "YS" game to date.
The role-playing category in the videogame market continues to grow. By acquiring the rights to "YS" Konami is expanding its RPG line-up, which currently features the marquee series, "Suikoden". As Konami continues to expand its worldwide market share, KDE will actively seek out and develop important products featuring major anime and movie content.
